Le CCM 41 est fortement directionnel. Le son provenant du hors axe est encore plus atténué qu'avec un cardioïde. Le micro est «plus sec» et moins sensible au larsen acoustique que tout autre type de microphone SCHOEPS (un haut-parleur ne doit cependant pas être situé directement le long de l'axe arrière du microphone).
Sa directivité est très indépendante de la fréquence, de sorte que même les sons arrivant hors axe et les sons réverbérants sont enregistrés sans coloration. Par conséquent, même le placement éloigné de la capsule produit une prise de son très naturelle. C'est un réel avantage par rapport aux microphones «fusil à pompe» à tube interférentiel, dont la directivité est très dépendante de la fréquence - dépassant celle d'un supercardioïde uniquement aux fréquences plus élevées.
